Elfin Ears is the latest craze in cosmetic surgery
is this a cosmetics plus or a cosmetic minus ?.
I don’t know how many women would remember Mr Spock from Startrek or how many would want to try to look like him, but Elfin Ears is the new cosmetics plus to have.
Jordan Houtz of Arizona went under the knife as part of a sci-fi craze sweeping America to get elf ears because she thought it would be fascinating.
This is cosmetics plus a big risk though.
‘It was just something I thought would be fascinating,’ she told ABC’S Good Morning America show. ‘I wouldn’t go as far as saying I’m a “trekkie” ‘.
There might be some big Lord of the Rings fans out there, but most wouldn’t go this far using cosmetics plus trying to look like their favourite characters. Some fantasy film buffs are taking their obsessions to new levels by actually having their ears cut open and sculpted to look like elves. The surgery is cosmetics plus the elf ears craze has many health risks but that isn’t stopping sci-fi fans having the top of their cartilage sliced and sewed back together in a point.
The body modifications are from artist Steve Haworth, of Phoenix Arizona, who is world-renowned for most advanced body modification artist, which is cosmetics, plus he has won the Guinness World Record for this.
He said: ‘There are a lot of people out there who have an inner vision of themselves and want to express that to the world around them.
‘I’m very happy to be an artist that can provide that kind of work,’ he told ABC.
Beware of the danger….
But Dr Arthur W. Perry, author of Straight Talk About Cosmetic Surgery, warned that applicants should be aware of the dangers in surgery such as this type of cosmetics, plus sculpting cartilage is dangerous and applicants should be aware of the risks.
‘The real risks are major deformity of the ear, which is very easy to have happen, and infection of the ear,’ he said of this cosmetics. Plus if infection occurs, it can destroy the ear within days.
‘It’s very difficult as a cosmetics, plus often it’s not possible, to fully reconstruct a nice looking ear.’
Mr Haworth’s operation costs $600 for both ears and takes about 20 minutes, but he is not allowed to use any anaesthetic because he is not a doctor, reported ABC. So you put up with the cosmetics, plus you have to put up with the pain. And it is a painful procedure.
The elf ears craze is believed to have been brought on by films such as Lord of the Rings and Avatar, as well as HBO’s comedy television series Bored to Death.
- Are Elves are sexy. ?
- Are Vulcans are sexy. ?
Would you risk a change of cosmetics, plus they say Pointy ears in general are sexy, but how far do you go with a cosmetics. Plus not being so sexy that we’d carve ourselves up to get them. News reports on the latest fad among young adults, getting your ear cartilage cut open and sewn into points.
While the body modification procedure for creating ears that are more or less pointed has been around for quite some time, as a cosmetics, plus it seems it’s beginning to pick up some real steam, at least enough to make a news story about it. They say that “Elf Ears Are the Rage Among Quirky Young Adults”, flashing video footage of several young women who had the change in cosmetics, plus have undergone the painful procedure with varying results.
So one intoxicated night don’t think that booze will dull the pain of the cosmetics, plus you might wake up the day after and what you had done, that is having your upper ear cut in two and then sewn back together.
That’s quite a lot of risk for a procedure that doesn’t seem to be all that effective at making ears truly look pointed. I’ll pass on the cosmetics, plus the $30 for a set of silicon stick-on ears is much cheaper than paying several hundred dollars to potentially lose the ones I’ve got.
